One-to-One Camino Support | Personal Camino Advice

Created by Colleen | Updated : 30 May 2026 | ,

Planning a Camino can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming.

You might be wondering which route to choose, whether your stages are realistic, what to pack, how to get there, or whether you’re fit enough to begin.

I’ve walked more than 24 Caminos, volunteered in pilgrim offices and albergues, guided groups, created Camino workshops, and helped hundreds of pilgrims prepare for their journey. And after all these years, I’m still passionate about the Camino de Santiago.

But I still remember what it felt like to stand at the beginning. When I walked my first Camino, I was 51, overweight, recovering from cancer, and had never even walked with a backpack before. I know what it feels like to doubt yourself.

If you’re looking for answers without spending hours sifting through conflicting advice online, a one-to-one session with me may be just what you need. We’ll sit down together on Zoom, talk through your plans, questions and concerns, and I’ll share the same practical advice I’d give to my friends and family.

By the end of our conversation, you’ll have a clearer idea of what comes next and feel more confident about the road ahead.are for.

I’ve Just finished a wonderful hour of Zoom with Colleen. She’s lovely-fun, easy to talk to and a font of information. I’m feeling better equipped for my Camino in September!

Is One-to-One Camino Support Right for You?

Over the years I’ve helped all kinds of pilgrims prepare for their Camino. Some are anxious and full of self-doubt. Others are busy juggling work, family and life, and simply want answers without spending weeks researching.

My one-to-one sessions are for pilgrims looking for practical advice, reassurance, and an experienced sounding board.

A one to one session costs $75 USD and many people book because they:

  • Are overwhelmed by conflicting advice online
  • Are unsure which route to choose
  • Want reassurance that their plans make sense
  • Are worried about fitness, accommodation, or logistics
  • Don’t have time to spend weeks researching everything themselves
  • Don’t want to waste money on unnecessary gear or equipment
  • Simply want to talk things through with someone who’s done it before
  • Have questions they can’t find answers to elsewhere

Many pilgrims successfully walk the Camino without any additional support. But the Camino is not a one-size-fits-all journey. A one-to-one session can save you hours of research, help you avoid costly mistakes, and leave you feeling confident about your plans.

You taught us everything we would ever need to know about walking the Camino. You gave us so much information help and advice that I know we will have a far better experience on our walk than we ever would have before.

What You’ll Get Your Session

Essentially, you get to sit down with me for an hour and ask me anything that’s on your mind. It’s your hour, so you choose the focus. And we can easily dive into side conversations if I notice a better solution to a problem or something you might have missed.

Before we meet, you’ll complete a short questionnaire so I can understand a little about your plans, concerns, and goals. Then we simply sit down and chat.

Your session includes:

  • A 60-minute Zoom call and your walking buddy is welcome to join in.
  • A personalised follow-up email with notes and recommendations.
  • Useful links and resources tailored to your specific Camino plans.
  • The opportunity to ask a few follow-up questions via email afterwards.

Session costs: $75 USD

I really enjoyed our visit you helped tremendously. I’m going to order those recommendations!  I’m eager to read the links you’ve provided. Stay awesome Colleen x

What We Can Talk About

Every pilgrim is different, and my one-to-one sessions reflect that.

Throughout the session you are in control, you get to ask the questions, and I’ll do my best to answer fully. If I don’t know the answer, I’ll find out for you after the call.

Common topics include:

  • Choosing the right Camino route for you
  • Planning realistic stages and rest days
  • Accommodation options and booking strategies
  • Packing lighter and choosing the right gear
  • Shoes, socks, hotspots, and blister prevention
  • Travelling to and from the Camino
  • Luggage transfer and support services
  • Walking solo or albergue life and shared accommodation
  • Budgeting and managing worries, fears, or uncertainty

In short, we’ll focus on whatever matters most to you. There’s no such thing as a bad question!

We learned so much and had fun too! It was a ton of info but all important and we have homework to do. We talked about you and your kind nature and generosity at dinner tonight. Wonderful!

Frequently Asked Questions About one to One Support

No. Many people successfully walk the Camino without one. But if you’re feeling overwhelmed, unsure where to start, or simply want reassurance that you’re heading in the right direction, a session can save hours of research and provide peace of mind.

2. Can you help me choose a route?

Absolutely. Route choice is one of the most common topics we discuss.

3. Can you review my itinerary?

Yes. I’m happy to look over your plans and offer practical feedback during the session.

4. Can you help with gear and packing?

Yes. We can discuss clothing, footwear, backpacks, packing lists, and common mistakes.

5. Can I book another session later?

Of course. Many pilgrims book a second session as their plans develop.  Some also go on to book an Itinerary Review session with me or even ask me to plan their route.

6. Can You help me plan my Camino de Santiago?

Yes! Whether you need help choosing a route, breaking up the stages, or managing logistics like accommodation or bag transfer, I do offer a full bespoke Camino Itinerary Planning Service too!

7. Can you book my flights or accommodation?

No. I’m not a travel agent, so I can’t make bookings. But I’ll help you feel confident about what to book, when to book and why; saving you time and stress.

Are You Ready To Take The Next Step?

I’ve been writing about the Camino since 2013 and helping pilgrims prepare for their journeys for more than a decade. Walking the Camino means as much to me today as it did when I took my first steps.

When I walked my first Camino, I was recovering from cancer, carrying too much weight, and wondering whether I could do it at all. I read so much online that I almost talked myself out of starting at all.

Thank goodness I persevered, because the Camino changed my life and I’m here to help it change yours.
