Of all the questions you want to ask, what you really want to know is Whatโs it really like to walk the Camino? At least it was for me. I didnโt want to spoil the surpriseโฆ but I did want the reassurance that it was going to be OK!
This workshop isnโt really about the walking โ itโs about what happens in-between the walking. The early mornings, the coffee stops, the friendships, the snores, the blisters, washing your undiesโฆ and the emotional wobbles.
Iโm going to walk you through a day on the Camino โ from that first morning rustle to your well-earned glass of wine at dinnerโฆ and getting back to the dorm before lights out.

What Youโll Learn in This Workshop
Before I walked my first Camino, I had so many questions. Some I asked on forums โ but others felt a bit too personal. (Likeโฆ what are albergue bathrooms really like and are the showers really mixed!?)
I no longer remember how many Camino days Iโve walked or how many first time pilgrims I’ve walked with. But I do know what they worry about and I can answer those questions and help put your mind at rest.

Curious About The Reality – Then You Should Take This Workshop
Before my first Camino, I skipped St Jean and started in Roncesvalles. A week before I left home fear set in and I started doubting myself. Iโd read so much online that I lost confidence in myself and my training.
Fear of the unknown is your enemy and my workshop will show you what a typical day really looks like. And I know Iโm repeating myself โ but knowledge is power!
And that mountain I skipped? I went back a few months later and walked it just because I knew I could and Iโve walked it another 8 times since!

Don’t Forget Travel Insurance
Whenever you travel, you should have great travel and medical insurance. None of us expect anything bad to happen, but in the event of an incident, you want to be sure that your insurance will cover you.
Iโve ended up in hospital in Peru, Indonesia, Portugal, Japan and Ireland. Every time my insurance took care of everything. I would never leave home without full and comprehensive insurance.
MondialCare : Due to increasing limitations, mainly due to age, we have recently switched to MondialCare for our travel insurance. We have taken an annual policy at a very reasonable cost that includes medical and other travel cover. There are no trip length limits and the upper age for cover is 84. For Camino walkers and travel in Europe they have a low cost Schengen policy with no age limit.
TrueTravellerย : We have used this policy and were very happy with the cover, especially considering our ages and pre-existing conditions.
Globelink: We have used and recommended Globelink for years and not heard of any issues. They are a great choice for European and UK Residents.
Genki : This is an EU based company offering long term policies for nomads and travellers. Their monthly rates are very competitive for longer trips too.
