Both Malta and Gozo are a treasure trove of beauty and culture. We hired a car to get around and spent a few weeks exploring ancient ruins, centuries-old architecture and the stunning coastline on Malta and Gozo and I totally fell in love with Valetta.

About Malta and Gozo

Malta and Gozo are two beautiful Mediterranean islands. Both islands are part of the European Union, with Malta being an independent nation and Gozo a self-governing dependency of Malta.

For travellers looking for picturesque landscapes, stunning beaches, fascinating culture and history, Malta and Gozo have it all. From the vibrant capital of Valletta to the peaceful countryside, there is something for everyone.

The islands are full of life and activities, both on land and in the sea. Visitors can explore Malta’s 7,000 years of history by visiting ancient monuments such as Ġgantija is a megalithic temple complex or more recent marvels such as St John’s Co-Cathedral in Valletta. Outdoor activities such as swimming, fishing, and diving and if you’re like us a enjoy a walk there are plenty of shorter hiking trails to enjoy along the coast or indeed through some of the ancient cities.

In Gozo, visitors can take a break from the hustle and bustle of Malta (and her traffic) and enjoy a more tranquil settings. Some of the oldest know structures on earth are here on Gozo and it’s easy to discover the charm of this small island.

Malta and Gozo are both perfect destination for a relaxed holiday in the sun. But we visited in November and December and still found sunny days and time to enjoy the stunning coasts, unique culture, and fascinating history. There is something for everyone on the islands, whether you’re looking for an adventure or history, gastronomy or beaches with breathtaking views, Malta and Gozo have it all!
